Project Management
- This work package is responsible for the management of the project and controls the project for
organisational and technical co-ordination. It negotiates consortium agreements, manages resource
usage, monitors and tracks project results and guarantees that they are of high quality and relevant
to the project goals. This work package provides the projects representative for discussions with the EU.
- The project management workpackage is also responsible for ensuring that the quarterly reports are compiled and submitted
to the commission on time, the production of the appropriate material for the project reviews, and the
production of the project Technology Implementation Plan at the end of the project. The workpackage is
also responsible for the production of the final project report.
- The organisation of the project reviews is also the responsibility of this WP, and it is planned to hold
these reviews at the end of the first trial phase (Month 13) and at the end of the second trial phase (month 20).
End-user Service Analysis and Requirements Capture
- One objective of this work package is to define a set of User Requirements based on previous research carried
out in identified organisations, where the target applications are location based services, unified messaging
services and multimedia access services.
- A second objective is to define a set of Use Cases and Service Scenarios to be demonstrated
in the project trials. These use cases and service scenarios will form the basis of the trial
implementation systems and will thus ensure that the trials are capable of demonstrating
to the customer end users the potential of 2.5-3G services and networks
- The project will establish a real end-user forum that will provide a platform for
real end-user groups to evaluate the User Requirements and project service trials and provide feedback to
the project.
Trials Definition
- This main purpose of this work package is to provide a harmonised overview of this project and the
trials, which are at the heart of the project. Thus it specifies the objectives and scope of the
trials from a high level perspective, including end user services, service architectures and platforms,
and the underlying network infrastructure. This WP also specifies the plans for the trial set-up and operation.
- This work package is responsible for the specification of the testbeds and the trials performed in
the two project trial phases. The work is mainly based on input originating from other Work Packages,
but condenses these, to fit the needs of being a guiding document for the trials.
Trials set up, including adaptation of platforms and components
- The objective of this work package is to specify the scope, the infrastructure,
operation and expected output of the two trial phases. The first trial will concentrate
on setting up the local testbeds. This information will be used in the second trial,
which will focus on Pan-European trials, where the local testbeds are interconnected.
- Furthermore this work package concentrates on carrying out the necessary adaptation,
integration or customisation of any software and components that are required to satisfy
the two trial objectives.
Testing procedure, evaluation process
- The objective of this work package is to define test cases and criteria for evaluation
of the trials. It will also define evaluation process for the trials and other contract
requirements.
- Evaluation is separated in two main groups: trial evaluation and other contract requirements evaluation.
"Trial evaluation includes the value-added services, portals, gateways, and networks.
Other requirements evaluation includes items like web sites, report requirements, etc. This WP shall
compile a list of all these requirements and specify the method for their evaluation.
The work package will also determine the various interoperability categories, define them,
and classify the test cases and results by these categories.
- Evaluation results are the principal outputs of the project. In the case of trial evaluation,
this work package will develop and document the method for evaluating the results obtained by test
case execution as well as defining the test cases themselves. These evaluations shall lead to
recommendations concerning specific standards and the validation of the user-defined scenarios.
Trials Execution and Evaluation
- This work package is responsible for the execution of the trials.
- The trials are performed in two phases. The first phase, (T1), addresses
basic service provisioning functionality, while the second phase, (T2), concentrates
on interoperability aspects and roaming solutions. The first phase is executed
on isolated testbeds, while the second uses an interconnected subset of platforms
from different vendors and service providers. In parallel, as soon as testbeds
become available, interoperability events can be organised
Dissemination and Exploitation of Results
- WP6 aims to provide the required environment and the resources to
disseminate the project results to the industry, to standardisation
bodies and to the EC.
- Members of the project will bring some project results to the bodies
that they are contributing to (e.g. 3GPP, ETSI).
- Each industrial partner will develop exploitation plans since it is
planned to commercialise the project results. The exploitation plans
will allow monitoring of the market situation and assessing the business
opportunities of the system developed by the project.
